PWS Recommends: LIINES

By Laura Dean

'PWS Recommends' is one of my favourite features to write as it means that I can share an up and coming artist with everybody that I think highly of and listen to myself. This time I've chosen LIINES; a post-punk three piece from Manchester, consisting of Zoe McVeigh (guitar/vox), Steph Angel (bass) and Leila O'Sullivan (drums).

The three members of the band are best friends and formed back in 2014, stating their influences to include Joy Division, PJ Harvery and Sleater Kinney. The band have fast become one of Manchester's most exciting and powerful acts and their debut single 'Never There' received a lot of support, from being featured as Single of the Week on John Kennedy's X-Posure show (Radio X) to being placed in the 'spotlight' by The Unsigned Guide who described it as "immediate, striking and primal".

The bands new single 'Blackout' is available to download and stream now and is the second LIINES single to be championed by Radio X's John Kennedy. The single has also received support from Tom Robinson of BBC 6 Music. You won't find a bad word about LIINES, and quite right too - Even The Stars describe 'Blackout' as "a fireball of energy set to a pulsating drumbeat and a spindly dancing bassline" whilst Louder Than War were entrapped by its "jamming riffs, hissing percussion and raw vocal that come together as a deep, dark track and low-fi aesthetic".

Upcoming Tour Dates:

15/07/2016 - Night & Day Cafe, Manchester
16/09/2016 - Ramsbottom Festival, Bury
24/09/2016 - Musicians Against Homelessness, Manchester
